The village has a large selection of charming cafés, bars and restaurants. A couple of places specialize in barbeque, offering both vegetarian and other alternatives. Each one of us order what we prefer, and we will enjoy our meal together. The video is from La Alcazaba, Mijas Pueblo.
In addition to dining in Mijas Pueblo, there are opportunities in the surrounding areas. Our favourite cuisines are vegetarian, Spanish, Indian, Lebanese, but the range is much wider than that. It’s always fun with new ideas and we appreciate trying new places.
One favorite in the village is Secret Garden, a restaurant with a very large garden in the middle of Mijas Pueblo. In summer time, it is open and offers barbecue, salads in a beautiful relaxing environment.
Along the coastline we find the classic chiringuitos, beach bars, with delicious food: Mijas – La Cala, Fuengirola, Benalmádena, Torremolinos etc.
La Cubana and is located on the beach of Carvajal. They usually open in April and keep running until September. A warm and lovely summer can offer even longer season.
Fuengirola, is another municipality, just below Mijas Pueblo and next to the water. Once upon a time it was part of Mijas. Fuengirola has a nice atmosphere with many restaurants. Both along the beach and and also in a urban environment.
A few favorites of ours are located in the neighborhood “Los Boliches”. In the picture we can see the Mexican restaurant “El Paso”. The owners are proud of their home country are usually keen on performing at the table with a song from Mexico before the guests leaving. We have always been happy with our visits.
Dining in the city of Málaga is fantastic. However, this is a slightly bigger project as it involves driving and parking. When there is parking available, it is easy, but is not always the case. The situation will improve when the construction work is coming to and end creating the new underground. At present there is commuter train from Fuengirola all the way to central Málaga. There is a large selection of nice restaurants, cafes and bars to enjoy. Málaga is a magnificent city. Despite its size, it gives a welcoming small-town atmosphere.
